Blackbody Radiation: a Spectroscopic Study

Click on an image to get a larger picture.

Use a miniature spectrometer on-line to a PC to study the wavelength and temperature dependence of radiation emitted by the filament of an incandescent light bulb.  Light is transmitted via a fiber optic cable to a small diffraction grating mounted directly on a PC card; the spectrum is read out via a pixellated CCD array.
This is the Ocean Optics spectrometer which is located inside the PC.
The blue "cable" on the right is the optical fiber that transmits the light to the spectrometer inside the computer.
